Super Mario Run is a running game developed and published by Nintendo. It marked a significant step for the iconic Mario franchise, as it was Nintendo's first mobile game. Released in 2016, it quickly gained popularity among both casual and hardcore gamers.

Gameplay

Unlike traditional Mario games, Super Mario Run features an auto-running mechanic. Mario automatically runs forward, and players control his jumps, spins, and wall jumps by tapping the screen. This simplified control scheme made the game accessible to a wider audience while still offering challenges for experienced players.

The game offers three main modes:

World Tour: The classic Mario adventure where players guide Mario through various levels to rescue Princess Peach.
Toad Rally: A competitive mode where players race against other players' recorded runs to collect Toads.
Kingdom Builder: A building mode where players use collected Toads to decorate their own Mushroom Kingdom.

A Unique Take on Mario

While Super Mario Run deviated from the traditional Mario formula with its auto-running mechanic, it still managed to capture the essence of the franchise. The game's vibrant visuals, catchy music, and familiar characters resonated with fans. However, the game's focus on one-time purchases and lack of significant updates after release led to mixed reception.
